It’s almost that time of the year when we create our setlist of the best movies in the whole world to watch. The most prestigious film awards are here- The Oscars. We can more or else say that the nominations are out and there are brilliant performances from our favorite actors for whom we are rooting for.
The 2018 Oscar nominations bring us excellent performances of actors, actresses and other whorls of film. Taking a look at the list of competition, it can be stated that the choice of the best actor and actress is not going to be a cakewalk.
Academy Awards 2018 Predictions
Let’s check out the predictions for 2018 Oscar awards below.
This year the film industry has produced beautiful films which have left us in tears, made us laugh and kept us on the edge of our seats like always. The female protagonists have put their heart in their films, and there is no denying that. This year, the frontrunners are Frances McDormand for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Sally Hawkins for The Shape of Water, Saoirse Ronan for Lady Bird, Meryl Streep for The Post and Margot Robbie for me, Tonya. I hope now you see how the competition is getting to us, dear Reader.
The frontrunners having a competition among themselves also have another list to go neck to neck against. That would be, Michelle Williams for All the Money in the World, Jessica Chastain for Molly’s Game, Emma Stone for Battle of the Sexes, Jennifer Lawrence for the mother! And Salma Hayek for Beatriz at Dinner. Outside contenders also have a chance, like Judi Dench for Victoria and Abdul and Annette Bening for Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool. These are few predictions on the actress front.

Selection of the award winner for best actor is getting tougher and tougher. Few predictions would show the front-runners to be, Gary Oldman for The Darkest Hour, Daniel Day-Lewis for The Phantom Thread, Timotheé Chalamet for Call Me By Your Name, Daniel Kaluuya for getting Out and Tom Hanks for The Post. Contenders against the front-runners are James Franco for The Disaster Artist, Denzel Washington for Roman J. Israel, Esq. And Jake Gyllenhaal for Stronger. I think we can already imagine the decision-making body of this award has no nails left on their fingers.
Apart from the actor and actress award, the most awaited Oscar of the year is the Best Picture. The most significant question is, Who will win the Best Picture? The nomination in this category among all other categories is a prestige itself and to win it is megalomaniac of honor!
There are ten movies which are on the list now, and the choices are pretty intense. The list is as follows,
- Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk
- Jordan Peele’s Get Out
- Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird
- Martin McDonagh’s Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
- Joe Wright’s Darkest Hour
- Steven Speilberg’s The Post
- The Big Sick
- Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Phantom Thread
- Sean Baker’s The Florida Project
